You just bought the next latest and greatest ebook that has been released on the market; what you need to understand is that 1,000′s of others have also bought this ebook so you are going to be competing with a lot of other people using the same techniques. This happened when PotPieGirl started selling One Week Marketing; everyone started putting up lenses promoting clickbank products and they all looked the same. I’m sure this is a big reason behind why Squidoo changed their policies regarding certain niches and products.

Take a step back and think about what OWM is really teaching you; she is teaching you how to get a page to the top of the SERPS and even dominate the SERPS for a certain keyword. If done correctly, you could in theory own the first page of Google if you play your cards right.

Here’s where you need to think outside of the box; what else have I learned along the way can I add to my toolbox of knowledge to really stand out and not look like everyone else? You don’t need to reinvent the wheel, just tweak something. Don’t worry if someone said you should do it or not, just feel free to experiment and mix things up a little. If it works, great, you have a little secret trick to get your page ranked or get that extra sale, if it doesn’t work make a note to delete this idea from your head because it’s not right for what you are trying to do at this point in time.

Getting creative and adding more knowledge for yourself is how you will get ahead in IM and avoid IMADD. Today take some time to really think of what you have learned and try to find one thing you can do differently from everyone else. Then implement it and see what happens.

One blog that particularly comes to mind is Vic’s internet marketing blog at Blogger Unleashed. Vic would post almost everyday with a great tip about how to make money online and truly cared that people make it. One day Vic didn’t post and someone got pissed about it. Come on people, he was giving you his secrets for free and you were getting pissed about him not posting. This truly hurt him which is why he took his teachings to a private forum at The Affiliate Academy. Unfortunately, I had to move on from his private forum, but I really did learn a lot from him and I really do appreciate it. The story I just told is just the tip of the iceberg, the whole situation really stressed Vic out and eventually made him very sick.

If you can’t tell by now what I’m getting at then I’ll just spell it out for you. The main reason that a lot of the good info about how to make money online is charged for is the people giving out the information are not appreciated when they give out their secrets for free. The other main reason is to weed out the people that are just looking for a free ride or think that they are can just put a website up and bing they are rich. If you are willing to pay $29 for an ebook or $39 per month for a membership site, then you must be somewhat serious about starting an online business.

It saddens me to say that charging for information does not weed out all of those that are looking for a free ride to working at home; these are the people that will shell out their money and two days after finishing the book or reading through a membership forum they are yelling scam because they don’t have $5,000 in their bank account yet. If you are one of these people that thinks this way, please just keep working your 9-5 job everyday and don’t even try to get your online business started.

While it is true that a lot of the information about how to make money online is available on blogs and websites for free, it will take you a lot of time to gather all of this information together and then make any sense of it to put it to good use. So if you truly believe that a membership or ebook will help you, then by all means spend the money on it, but I beg you to put the information to good use to make sure you are not throwing your money out the window.

This is just a little rant that I’ve been meaning to write about for a really long time now.

Ever since I started affiliate marketing, I have always tried to avoid writing articles. In fact, I just started writing hard core within the last month. I’m sure this is what held me back with my One Week Marketing campaigns and other things that I had been working on.

Last weekend, while I was going through my little bout of IMADD, I came across a thread at Wealthy Affiliate about the 4 Day Money Making Blueprint and everyone was just raving about it. I made a vow to myself that out of the money I made from the next game I sold, I would pick it up. It must have been fate, because that night, I sold a game so I purchased the 4 Day Money Making Blueprint the very next day.

The package includes 25 videos at this point in time, with more being added every once in a while. From the very first video, I had realized that the techniques the writer is teaching were the missing link that I had been suffering from while running my campaigns. He takes you from how to find a niche, to keyword research, through a series of  5 videos about how to write an article, to building a Squidoo lens, and then how to put it all together. The article writing and niche research portions were the puzzle pieces that I had been looking for all along. I have already put what I learned to good use yesterday on my first campaign.

I was quite surprised at how much I learned from the videos as opposed to reading an ebook. Many times when watching how-to videos my mind tends to wander onto other things, but the author was able to keep me engaged and taking notes the whole time.

For the value you receive when you purchase this program, you can’t go wrong. I did have a couple of things that I thought could have been a little better. Nothing is perfect and my qualms are extremely minor.

1. I think the title is a little misleading, because people may think that they’ll be making money within four days which is possible, but unlikely. This could cause new people to go around calling it a scam, which it is not.
2. The volume on the videos needs to be turned up. I was limited to watching these at my desk because I could hardly hear the videos when watching on my laptop. I did hear that the author was working on this.
3. I would like to see a little more content written down, maybe like a PDF of the steps to take every four days. This could be printed out every time a new campaign is started so everything would be in one place. I guess I was a little spoiled by PotPieGirl when she came out with her program.

Putting One Week Marketing and the 4 Day Money Making Blueprint together would be an awesome combination, but if your funds are limited, I would definitely pick up the later first and get One Week Marketing later on. It’s just that good.

Stop worrying about what others think of your writing

Your high school teacher is not reading your articles and grading them as they are published. Push aside any criticism that you have experienced in the past and just write something. Start with writing about a subject you are extremely knowledgeable on. Don’t say I don’t know about anything, there is some hobby that you have or had in the past which you can write about. Did you play hockey growing up? Write about your favorite hockey stick. Were you in debate? Write something about debating. What movie did you go and see on Saturday night? Write a movie review. No matter what you think, there is something we are all an expert on and that is ourselves.

Get off of the computer, especially the internet

Getting off the of the computer and writing the old fashioned way has really helped me spit out content for my articles along with clearing my mind to make my writing better. Over the past few days I have spit out almost 10 pages of written content to use in future articles. The internet is a distraction, getting off the computer and putting pen to paper will help your ideas flow much better. You will also forget about keyword optimizing, SEO, and all of that other jazz. To make this really work you need to grab your notebook and move to a different room. I prefer to go outside and get out of the house but where you go is totally up to you.

Buy your articles

Buying your content is always and option if you have some money to invest, but the reality is, most of us don’t have any extra money which is why you are affiliate marketing in the first place. You should still learn about article writing because you need to know if what you paid for is really worth your money. I recommend at least writing 5 articles on your own before doing this, just so you know what it is like.

Have a support system

A support system to get you through your writer’s block is essential. If you’re like me, you’re spouse doesn’t know what the heck you do with all of your time online and trying to explain it to them is like trying to explain how an A-Bomb works. Hopefully, they at least support your efforts and see what could become of what you are doing. You still probably want a support system of peers where you can go and ask questions and get answers quickly without the whole scientific explanation. I have found this place at Wealthy Affiliate.

I often wonder what would have happened if I had just stuck with things 8 years ago and stayed the course, but dwelling on the past will not get me to where I want to be in the future and I hope you are starting to think the same way.

Since 2001, I have strayed along the way with many “get rich quick” schemes and sites, but it seemed that I just never got the hint, “nothing worth doing comes easy or cheap”. If you take anything away from this site, I hope you learn this lesson because it will save you a lot of money.

I am just a normal person like you and I do not make enough online to call affiliate marketing my career yet, but I am finally serious about putting the time and effort in to make this work. I hope you’ll join me and learn something along the way.
